Museum Gallery to Reopen After 83 Years

A gallery at London’s Natural History Museum, closed since 1943, will reopen on 16 September, the BBC reports. 

Nature and Us will feature 50 objects exploring our changing relationship with the natural world. The exhibition is part of the NHM150 project, which aims to unveil a new or revamped showcase each year until the museum’s 150th anniversary in 2031. 

The exhibition is housed on the second floor of the museum’s main Waterhouse Building. Highlights include a miniature Crystal Palace dinosaur, the Victorian skeleton of a monk seal named Jenny, and a replica jaw belonging to one of Britain’s earliest known domesticated dogs, dating back around 14,300 years.

The Natural History Museum in South Kensington offers free admission and is open daily.
