Long-Awaited Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Announces Opening Date

The long-awaited Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, located on Saadiyat Island, is set to open on December 11, 2026, the Department of Culture and Tourism–Abu Dhabi announced. Plans for the major new museum were first shared in 2006, though the total cost has not been disclosed.

Designed by the late American architect Frank Gehry, the museum will be the largest in the Guggenheim Museum network, which also includes locations in Venice and Bilbao, as well as the original museum in New York.

The museum will include 30 galleries, offering 11,600 square meters of indoor gallery space and 23,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition areas.
