From October, six large-scale reproductions of artworks from the Getty Museum’s collection will be installed across Paris, bringing some of the world’s most celebrated works into the city’s public spaces through a partnership between Getty and L’Art dans la Ville. The installations will be on view through November 30, 2026.
As it is mentioned on the museum’s website, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of French-American friendship, the project creates opportunities for Getty’s collection to be seen by Parisians and tourists, in dialogue with French museums, cultural institutions, architecture, and everyday urban life.
“This exciting project reflects Getty’s commitment to sharing art beyond museum walls and building meaningful partnerships around the world. In the spirit of Franco-American friendship, we’re delighted to bring artworks from Getty’s collection into conversation with the dynamic cultural life of Paris.”- Katherine E. Fleming, president and CEO of Getty.
The six outdoor installations feature a range of artworks from Getty’s collection, including Vincent van Gogh’s “Irises” and Gustave Caillebotte’s “Young Man at His Window,” as well as paintings by Édouard Manet, Paul Cézanne, and Lawrence Alma-Tadema. Each reproduction has been paired with a distinctive Paris location, creating new encounters with art beyond the walls of a museum.
